02 WOODY BY MOOFOO

For the first time in Australia, a series of new wooden sculptures and furniture by the Taiwanese artistic team MOOFOO;  Li Ming Hsun and Kuo Chia Hung.

MOOFOO (木夫) meaning wood workers in Chinese, was founded in 2020 by sculptor Li Ming Hsun and designer Kuo Chia Hung. The two specialise in combining sculpture with carpentry to create artful contemporary furniture and objects. Breaking away from the minimalist designs of modern furniture, they imbue their work with the warmth of timber and the artistic qualities of sculpture. Hence, their furniture and objects not only feature practicality and functionality but also take on a more sculptural presence within the home.

In time for Sydney’s World Pride 2023, MOOFOO created the exhibition WOODY, a series of reflective works that question our self identity as individuals and as a broader community, through self questioning, self conflicts, self reconciliation and acceptance.
